# Radar cost controls: budgets, usage groups, custom alerts

> Set monthly Snowflake budgets and get alerted at 80% and 100%, roll warehouses up into usage groups, write your own SQL alerts, and explore raw per-query cost.

*September 9, 2026*

Radar could already tell you what you spent. This release is about deciding what you *intend* to spend, and hearing about it before the month is gone. Snowflake cost monitoring gains four things, and the Radar sidebar is reorganised around them.

* **Budgets.** Set a monthly budget for the whole account or per warehouse on the new [Budgets](/products/radar/cost-management/budgets) page. A budget-vs-actuals chart tracks cumulative spend against a pace line that prorates the budget across the month, so you can see whether you are ahead or behind on any given day. The **Distribute budgets** dialog takes one monthly total and splits it across warehouses, either equally or in proportion to the last 30 days of spend, with the allocations editable before you apply them. Budget alerts fire once at 80% and once at 100% of a target's monthly budget, delivered to your existing [Data Alerts destinations](/products/radar/real-time-alerting/configure-alerts).
* **Usage groups.** Warehouses rarely map one to one onto teams. [Usage groups](/products/radar/cost-management/usage-groups) let you roll them up into the groups you actually budget by, then see daily spend as a stacked chart with everything unassigned kept visible as **Ungrouped**. Groups can carry their own budget, and renaming one keeps its budget and history intact.
* **Custom alerts.** The built-in alerts cover the common cost anomalies. [Custom alerts](/products/radar/real-time-alerting/custom-alerts) cover the rest: describe what you want to be told about and Radar drafts the BigQuery SQL for you, or write it yourself, then **Test alert** to see whether it would fire right now and on what rows. Choose whether it repeats daily while true or stays quiet until it resets, route it to Slack, Microsoft Teams, or email, and watch a 30-day firing history on the alert itself.
* **Logs and Resources.** The new [Logs](/products/radar/cost-management/logs-and-resources) view puts 90 days of daily spend in a recorder strip above the raw per-query cost rows: click a day to scope the table to it. **Resources** is an inventory of the warehouses seen in your cost data, with 90-day spend, active days, and when each was first and last seen.

The Radar sidebar is now grouped to match: **dbt™** holds Schedules, Models, Sources, and Tests, and your warehouse group (**Snowflake** or **BigQuery**) holds Charts, Savings, Budget, Logs, and Resources. Work, Looker, and Data Alerts stay where they were.

Budgets, usage groups, and custom alerts are for Snowflake cost workspaces first, and are rolling out to Radar accounts over the coming days. Shipped in Paradime v6.12.0.
