# Choose where DinoAI agents answer in Slack

> DinoAI agents can answer as a top-level message in their Slack channel instead of a thread, and post only their final answer instead of every update.

A [DinoAI agent](https://docs.paradime.io/products/dino-ai/programmable-agents/index.md) with a Slack channel used to open a thread at the start of every run and post each update into it. Two new settings let you change that, on the builder's **Output** step or in the agent YAML.

* **Answer in.** **A thread** works as before. **The channel** skips the "Starting agent" message and posts the answer as a top-level message in the channel. Reply to it with @Paradime to continue the session. In YAML, set `slack.answer_in: channel`.
* **What it posts.** **All updates** works as before. **Final answer only** posts one "Working on it" line, then only the closing answer. Questions, approvals, and failure notices still post. In YAML, set `slack.updates: final`.

This suits agents that report into a busy channel, such as a daily cost summary or a triage bot: one clean message per run instead of a thread of progress notes. See [Slack output](https://docs.paradime.io/products/dino-ai/programmable-agents/yaml-configuration.md#slack-output).

Also on the [**Output** step](https://docs.paradime.io/products/dino-ai/programmable-agents/creating-agents-in-the-app.md#output-optional): if Slack's channel list takes more than 10 seconds to load, you can type the channel name instead, and **Refresh** reloads the list. Shipped in Paradime v6.21.0.
