Search & Filters

The catalog search bar matches across names, descriptions, and tags for every indexed asset. Type a query and press Search (or Enter). To narrow what you get back, press / in the search bar to open the filter menu.

Add a filter

Press / anywhere in the search bar to open the filter menu. Filters are added as chips in the search bar, and each shows a live count of how many assets match.

Asset type

Filter results to specific kinds of asset. Types are grouped by provider, with a live count next to each:

• Table and Column span every provider.
• dbt™: Model, Source, Seed, Snapshot, Analysis, Exposure, Macro, and Test.
• BI & ingestion tools: each connected tool contributes its own asset types (for example Looker Dashboards, Explores, and Looks).

Classification

Filter by any custom metadata you’ve added to your dbt™ project through meta configurations, such as sensitivity: high or data_domain: finance. See Classifications for how to define them.

Choose which fields to search

The / menu also has a Search in section so you can control which fields a query matches. By default the catalog matches names, descriptions, and tags. Toggle any of these off to narrow a noisy search:

• Names
• Descriptions
• Tags

Sort results

Under Sort by, choose how results are ordered:

• Relevance (default)
• A → Z
• Z → A

Reading the results

Above the results, a breakdown bar shows how many hits fall into each asset type (for example Column 38 · Test 13 · Model 5 · Source 4), so you can see the shape of a result set at a glance. Each result is a card showing:

• The asset name, type, and provider logos.
• Its path (project, database, schema).
• The description, or a note when the asset isn’t documented yet.
• Matched columns, when your query hit column names or descriptions.
• For tables, the row count and size.
