Workspace configuration keeps your team consistent and secure. This guide covers the three settings an Admin manages most: the dbt™ version, environment variables, and API keys.
PrerequisitesEstimated time: 10 minutes.

Set the dbt™ version

Paradime sets one dbt™ version for the whole workspace, applied to both the Code IDE and Bolt for every user.
1

Open workspace settings

Go to Settings, then the Workspace tab, and find the dbt™ version under project settings.
2

Change the version

Select Edit next to the dbt™ version, choose a version, and Save. All users inherit it across the Code IDE and Bolt.
Confirm your project is compatible with the target version before changing it.

Set up environment variables

Environment variables store configuration and secrets for two contexts: Bolt schedules (production, Admin only) and the Code IDE (development).
1

Open Environment Variables

Go to Settings, then Environments, then Environment Variables.
2

Add a variable

In the Bolt schedules section (production) or Code IDE section (development), select Add new, enter the key and value, and save.
Bolt variables are injected into your dbt™ project at runtime; Code IDE variables are available in your development environment immediately.
See the Bolt schedule and Code IDE environment variable reference for details.

Manage API keys

API keys give programmatic access to a workspace. Each key is scoped to the workspace it was created in.
1

Generate a key

Go to Settings, the Workspace tab, then the API key section, and select Generate API Key. Give it a name and, optionally, an expiry.
2

Store the credentials

Copy and securely store the API key, secret, and endpoint. You won’t be able to see the secret again.
Review keys regularly, rotate them periodically, and delete any that are unused or may be compromised.
