When dbt™ commands fail, the error messages can be cryptic and troubleshooting often means switching between terminal output, documentation, and forums. Send your terminal output to DinoAI to get specific, contextual guidance and resolve the issue in place.
Prerequisites
  • A DinoAI Copilot session open in the Code IDE.
  • A failed dbt™ command with error output visible in the terminal.
Estimated time: 5 minutes.

Steps

1

Reproduce the error

Run your dbt™ command and let it fail so the error message and relevant output appear in the terminal.
2

Add the terminal output to chat

Highlight the error message and relevant terminal output, then right-click and select Add to Chat to send it to DinoAI as context.
3

Open DinoAI and add detail

Open DinoAI from the icon in the right panel, then add any extra information that helps it troubleshoot (what you were trying to do, recent changes, and so on).
4

Review the diagnosis and apply the fix

Review DinoAI’s diagnosis, follow the recommended steps, apply the suggested fixes, and rerun your dbt™ command to confirm the issue is resolved.
After you add terminal context and send your prompt, DinoAI analyzes the error output for known patterns, identifies the root cause (missing files, configuration issues, SQL errors, and similar), cross-references common dbt™ troubleshooting solutions, and returns step-by-step instructions. If configured, it can also suggest relevant .dinorules updates to prevent similar issues.
You’ll know it worked when your dbt™ command runs successfully after applying DinoAI’s fix. If the same error persists, confirm you highlighted the full error output before selecting Add to Chat, then send it again with more detail.
