Prerequisites
- A DinoAI Copilot session open in the Code IDE.
- One or more text-based PDFs available to add as file context.
Steps
1
Add the PDF to your project
Add the PDF document (or documents) you want DinoAI to reference to your project.
2
Open DinoAI
Open DinoAI from the icon in the panel.
3
Attach the PDF as context
Add the PDF as context by clicking the @ symbol in the DinoAI chat panel and selecting the file.
4
Write a prompt that references the PDF
Be specific about which parts of the PDF matter and clearly state what you want DinoAI to do with the information.Example prompt:
Based on the data model described in the attached architecture PDF, create a dimensional model for tracking user engagement.
Text-based PDFs work better than scanned documents. For best results, provide PDFs with clear text content rather than handwritten notes or poor-quality scans.
5
Review and implement
Review DinoAI’s response and implement the solution. Ask follow-up questions to refine its understanding if needed.
You’ll know it worked when DinoAI’s output reflects specifics from the PDF (named entities, rules, or structures) rather than generic content. If it misses details, confirm the PDF is text-based and re-attach it, then point DinoAI to the exact section.
For recurring reference documents, add instructions in your .dinorules file specifying how DinoAI should interpret and handle information from specific PDFs.
