GitLens

GitLens brings rich Git history and code authorship into the Code IDE. Open it from the dedicated icon in the left icon strip, or read history inline in the editor.

In the editor

Inline blame: the author and age of the current line appear at the end of the line. Toggle it with Toggle Blame Annotations (⌥B) from the right-click menu.
File Annotations and File History are also available from the context menu.

In the GitLens panel

The panel groups Git insights into sections:

Section	What it shows
Line History	The commits that touched the current line.
File History	How the current file has evolved over time.
Search & Compare	Find commits and compare references across your project.
Repositories	The repository connected to your workspace.
Commits	The commit history of your current branch.
Branches	Local and remote branches.
Remotes	Configured Git remotes.
Stashes	Stashed changes.
Tags	Git tags.
Contributors	Who has contributed to the repository.
