Radar Data Alerts monitor your warehouse for cost spikes and anomalies across account, warehouse, user, dbt™ model, and query compute costs. You enable and tune each alert on the Data Alerts page, then choose where triggered alerts are delivered.
Prerequisites

Enable and tune an alert

  1. In Paradime, go to Radar and open the Data Alerts page.
  2. Select the Snowflake or BigQuery tab to see the alerts available for that warehouse. See Snowflake Alerts and BigQuery Alerts for the full list.
  3. For each alert, set its Triggered when conditions:
    • % Change >= the percentage increase above the alert’s 7-day average that triggers a notification. For example, 20 triggers when the value is 20% above the weekly average. (The Snowflake Query Remote Spillage Ratio Anomaly uses Abs. Change >= instead, a multiple of bytes scanned.)
    • Minimum value >= an absolute floor that must also be met. This reduces noise so a large percentage change on a tiny absolute value does not trigger an alert.
  4. Toggle the switch on the right to enable or disable the alert.
Both conditions are combined with AND: an alert fires only when the percentage (or absolute) change and the minimum value are met.

Set alert destinations

  1. On the Data Alerts page, click Configure alerts in the top-right to open the Radar Data Alerts panel.
  2. Choose where triggered alerts are delivered:
    • Slack channel: pick a channel from the dropdown. Use Refresh to reload the channel list from your connected Slack integration.
    • Email notifications: choose Send email alerts so Workspace Admins receive an email when an alert triggers, or No email alerts to turn email off.
Destinations apply to all enabled Data Alerts. Connect Slack first so channels appear in the dropdown.

Receiving and acting on alerts

When an alert is triggered, you receive a notification through your configured destinations. The alert includes:
  • A description of the issue
  • Relevant metrics and comparisons
  • Suggested actions to address the problem
Use this information to quickly diagnose and resolve issues, helping to maintain the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of your data operations.
Best Practices
  1. Start with key metrics: Begin by enabling alerts for your most critical operations and costs.
  2. Refine thresholds: Adjust the percentage and minimum-value thresholds over time based on your patterns.
  3. Regular review: Periodically review your alert configuration to ensure it stays relevant and effective.
  4. Team alignment: Make sure the right team members receive the appropriate alerts for quick action.
