Required Jira permissions

Paradime authenticates to Jira with an Atlassian API token (Jira Cloud) or a Personal Access Token (Jira Data Center). These tokens carry no scopes of their own. They act as the user who created them, so the token owner’s Jira account needs the project permissions for the actions you want DinoAI to perform:
Tip: Connect Jira with a dedicated service account whose project permissions cover exactly the actions above. Since API tokens are unscoped, the account’s permissions are the real boundary of what DinoAI can do in Jira.
Read-only usage (fetching and searching issues) only requires Browse Projects. If your organization uses Atlassian’s newer scoped API tokens, the equivalent scopes are read:jira-work for reading and write:jira-work for creating, updating, and commenting.

Step 1: Connect Jira Cloud in Paradime

To authorize Jira, go to Settings → Integrations (see connecting integrations), find the Jira integration, and click Connect. You’ll then be prompted to enter your credentials.
You will need an Atlassian API key to connect Jira Cloud. See the connection parameters below for where to find each required field.

Once all fields are filled in, click Connect to complete the connection.

Connect with an Atlassian service account

DinoAI background agents can use Jira through an Atlassian service account instead of a person’s account. The agent then works in Jira as the service account, and the service account’s project access and token scopes decide what it can do. This connection is for agents only. It is on the DinoAI agent tab of Settings > Integrations, as Jira Cloud (Service account). It isn’t on the Personal tab.

Step 1: Set up the service account in Atlassian

  1. In Atlassian Administration, create a service account, and give it access to Jira and to the projects the agent works in. It needs the project permissions for the actions you want.
  2. Create an API token for the service account, with these scopes:
    • read:jira-work to fetch and search issues.
    • write:jira-work to create, update, transition, and comment on issues.
    • read:jira-user to find people, for example to assign issues or add watchers.
  3. Copy the token. Atlassian shows it only once.
  4. Find your site’s Cloud ID. Open https://<your-site>.atlassian.net/_edge/tenant_info in a browser and copy the cloudId value.

Step 2: Connect it in Paradime

  1. Go to Settings > Integrations and open the DinoAI agent tab.
  2. Find Jira Cloud (Service account) and click Connect.
  3. Enter the connection details:

Agents get the same Jira tools as with the other Jira connections, including finding people by name or email. Links to issues use your site’s URL, for example https://your-org.atlassian.net/browse/DATA-42.
The service account uses a scoped token, because it reaches Jira through Atlassian’s API gateway. The other Jira Cloud connection on this page needs a classic, unscoped token. See Required Jira Permissions.
