DinoAI works inside Git Lite, the default Git panel in the Code IDE. It writes your commit messages and opens your pull requests, so you go from a change to a pull request without leaving the editor.

Write a commit message

  1. Make your changes. In the Git Lite panel, keep the files you want to commit selected in the Changes list.
  2. Click Write commit. DinoAI reads the selected files and drafts a message in the Commit message… box.
  3. Edit the message, or click Write commit again for a new draft.
  4. Click Ship it to commit, push, and open the pull request. On GitHub, DinoAI creates the pull request as described below. To commit and push only, click the arrow next to Ship it, then Commit & Push.
You can also skip Write commit. When the message box is empty, Ship it asks DinoAI for the message first.
Write commit shows when DinoAI is available in your workspace.

Open a pull request

When your branch has commits that aren’t on your default branch, Create PR with DinoAI shows at the top of the Git Lite panel.
  1. Push your branch, then click Create PR with DinoAI. The button reads Creating PR… while it works.
  2. DinoAI reads your branch’s changes and writes a title and a description with three sections: Summary, Motivation, and How to test.
  3. Paradime creates the pull request from your branch into your default branch and opens it in a new tab.
If your branch already has an open pull request, the button opens that one instead of creating a second. Ship it ends the same way. If DinoAI can’t write the description, for example because your workspace is out of credits, the pull request still opens, with a title built from your commit messages. If something blocks the pull request, such as a GitHub account that isn’t connected or a branch with nothing ahead of the default branch, a message says why.
Create PR with DinoAI creates pull requests on GitHub, and needs your GitHub account connected. When the workspace’s project is on a GitLab connection, the button reads Create MR with DinoAI, creates the merge request on GitLab as you, and needs your GitLab account linked. On GitLab without the connection, Bitbucket, or Azure DevOps, it opens the new pull request page in your Git provider instead. In the chat, DinoAI can also open and read merge requests with the GitLab MR Management Tool. To have DinoAI write only the description, see Generate pull request descriptions.
For the whole flow, from a new branch to an open pull request, see Use Git Lite.
